Video Games - Kid Icarus 2 Ending

Just beat Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters the other night. In the final level you once again wear the three treasures from the first Kid Icarus game. The most important one, the wings, allows you to fly/multi-jump in a way that feels like the water levels in the original Super Mario Bros. After you beat Orcos, Pit (the main character) flies higher and higher into the air, passing a who's who of the basic monsters in the game. (One of these monsters looks like a Metroid with a single wing.) Anyways, once Pit gets high enough, the monsters stop appearing and Pit is just air-hopping away, oblivious of his situation. A large smiling sun appears in the top right corner of the screen and then, as Pit climbs closer, his wings pop off and he starts to fall. The game stops in this comical freeze frame and says "The End." I was quite amused by the allegory to the Icarus myth. It was good stuff.
As a side note, this game wasn't released in Japan, only in North America.
